Andrew Tavin is a writer, comedian, and a full-time content manager for OppLoans. He graduated with a BFA in TV Writing from Tisch School of the Arts in New York City.
As OppLoans' lead editor, Kelly Zimmerman oversees content for consumers who are looking for both short-term and long-term financial answers. Prior to joining OppLoans, she spent eight years leading publications in both the print and digital space. She has a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and has been published with national publications and newswires, such as The Associated Press, McClatchy Newspapers, and MarketWatch.com.
Alex Huntsberger has covered loans, credit scores, and personal finance for OppLoans since 2015. He is a graduate of Oberlin College and a regular contributor to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Matt Pelkey is the director of OppU. He holds an undergraduate degree from Vassar College and a master’s from Notre Dame, where he taught as a graduate fellow. Previously, he worked for the consumer-advocacy nonprofits Public Citizen and Center for Science in the Public Interest, and as a journalist.
Samantha Rose has been a copywriter with OppLoans since 2018, and developing her writing expertise since 2011. She covers personal finance and financial education, and has interviewed professionals at Jump$tart, Junior Achievement, and state boards of education, among others. She resides in Chicago with her dog, Huey.
Ashley Altus is a content manager at OppLoans. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University where her capstone project focused on America’s reliance on a cash economy. She previously covered health care policy, medical education, and patient care for the American Osteopathic Association and has been published in O Magazine and Wacoan Magazine.1
