OppU Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

In the course of serving you, the OppU division of Opportunity Financial LLC (“OppU,” “we,” “us,” “our”) may obtain personal information about you. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how we collect personally identifying information and other information about you (“Personal Information”), how it is used, the circumstances under which such Personal Information might be disclosed to third-parties, and the steps we take to safeguard your Personal Information. This Policy applies to all the pages on the OppU website (OppLoans.com/mooc) (the “Site”), which is owned and operated by Opportunity Financial and is subject to our Terms of Use.

Information We Collect

The Personal Information we collect about you comes from the information you provide when you create a user account. This information includes:

  • Your username
  • Your email address
  • Your first and last name
  • Your city/town (optional)
  • Your country (optional)

We automatically collect certain information when you use our Site. This information may include:

  • Your IP Address
  • Your username (if you have logged in as a registered user)
  • The URLs you have requested to access
  • The dates and methods of requests
  • The status code of your requests
  • URLs of pages that referred you to the Site

Web server logs are retained on a temporary basis, during which time their contents are accessible to Site administrators, and then deleted completely from our systems. This means that user sessions will be tracked by IP address, but a user’s identity will remain anonymous.

We will only record your email address if you send us a message or submit it to us as part of the user registration process. We will only use your email address for the purpose for which you have provided it — i.e., to respond to a message from you or to communicate with you regarding your user account.

When you submit your email address to the Site during registration, we may ask you whether you want to receive periodic announcements from the Site by email. Accepting emailed announcements is entirely optional and not a condition of registration, and you may change your email settings at any time to subscribe or “unsubscribe” to these mailings.

Any feedback emailed to us using our email address oppu@opploans.com will be used for site performance evaluation only.

Cookies and Analytics

Technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts are used by the OppU division of Opportunity Financial and our analytic partners or service providers. These technologies are used in authenticating your user settings, administering the Site, tracking users’ movements around the Site, analyzing trends, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual as well as aggregated basis. We may also allow other third-parties to use cookies and other tracking technologies on our Site.

Users may be able to control the function of some cookies through your browser settings. However, if you reject cookies, you may still use our Site, but your ability to use some features or areas of our Site may be limited.

The Site is not currently configured to respond to Do Not Track signals.

Third-Party Data Collection

Some content or applications on the Site may be provided by third parties, including analytics companies. These third parties may use cookies or other tracking technologies to collect information about you when you use the Site. Such information does not identify you individually. We do not control these third-parties’ tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have questions about the collection or use of your information by these third-parties, please contact them directly. Some of these third-parties may provide you with ways to choose not to have your information collected or used for advertising purposes.

If you log into our Site through an account created with a third-party website (e.g, Facebook, Yelp, or LinkedIn), that third-party website may send us information about you, depending on the privacy settings that you have in place with that third-party website. Any information collected will be subject to the privacy policies of these third-party websites.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics software is used to perform Site usage analytics. Google Analytics collects anonymous information from users to help OppU track Site usage and referrals from other websites. These data are used primarily to optimize the website experience for our visitors, but we may use the data as well to assist us in developing marketing plans for the Site.

Information collected and processed by Google Analytics includes the user’s IP address, network location, and geographic location. Google Analytics acquires all its information directly from the user, by installing a cookie (see below) on the user’s computer. The Site does not share any information it collects with Google, and Google Analytics does not collect any personally identifying information such as names, contact information, social security numbers or financial information. Accordingly, we cannot use any information acquired by Google Analytics to contact you directly. You can learn more about how Google uses and shares this personal information and about any choices you may have with regards to your personal information by visiting their web site at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners
