A dedicated personal finance writer, Zina Kumok has been covering financial topics for almost 10 years. She has been nominated three times for the Plutus Award for best personal finance contributor or freelancer. She has also been a three-time speaker at FinCon, the financial media conference.

Before becoming a financial freelance writer, Kumok worked as a reporter for The Elkhart Truth, where she covered crime and entertainment. She also interned as a sports reporter for outlets like The Commercial Appeal in Memphis and The Associated Press in New York. She has covered everything from the Final Four to murder trials.
Originally from Memphis, Kumok attended Indiana University and received a B.A. in journalism.
