Use it if: You like being informed about the latest deals and want someone else to do the research. DealNews tells you the top 300 deals they find each day, and you can use the search function to find deals that are relevant to your interests and location. You can even find deals while you’re standing in the store and “clip” the coupon before bringing it to the register. Set certain “deal alerts” so you can get notifications about deals that apply to your needs.
OppLoans: What benefits does the DealNews app (@DealNewsDeals) provide your users?
Bill: The primary benefit for users is knowing that the best deals around are right at their fingertips. Not only is it fun and easy to browse through the newest or most popular deals that we know about right now, users also have the opportunity to discover the best deals on items they might not realize were being discounted.
OppLoans: What features are you most proud of?
Bill: The most recent Android version includes Deal Alerts (notifications) which was our #1 request from users on that platform. The current iOS version similarly includes a major update to the Deal Alerts (and Saved Deals). Both are incredibly stable releases, and our team continues to improve the apps release after release.
OppLoans: What’s the story behind the creation of DealNews?
Bill: DealNews began as dealmac in 1997. The site was founded by Dan de Grandpre and Richard Moss with one simple goal in mind: to find and share Mac deals with other Apple fans. They were excited to show the world that consumers didn’t have to pay full price. Since then, Apple has certainly changed, but in a way, DealNews hasn’t. We still get just as excited to discover an awesome deal as we did 20 years ago. But now, our deal sleuthing has expanded beyond Apple, to include everything from PCs to TVs to shoes to blenders — and beyond.
OppLoans: Are there any upcoming features or releases you’d like our readers to be aware of?
Bill: DealNews is really focusing on delivering good value to our users right now. And this is true across our entire portfolio so users can expect some really interesting user-centric changes in the near future.
