Most people seem to associate Oregon with the motto promoted by one of its more popular cities: “Keep Portland Weird!!!” But there is so much more to this state than the quirky eccentricities that are prevalent in the city of Portland. Oregon is a coastal state that is home to beautiful natural sites (including Crater Lake National Park, Columbia River Gorge National Park, and Mount Hood) and is dotted with micro-breweries and farm-to-table restaurants.

There are a number of financial indicators suggesting that Oregonians’ are doing okay financially. For example, the state’s average credit card debt is $530 less than the national average, and the median household income is $1,489 more than the national average. Unfortunately, however, the state also has its fair share of residents who are struggling financially. More than half a million Oregon residents live at or below the poverty line, and the Beaver State’s poverty rate of 13.2% is higher than the national average of 11.8%. As a result, many Oregon residents who are in a financial pinch may look towards title and payday loans in order to help keep them in the black.
